Mecklenburg Rules and Regulations
As a member of the Mecklenburg Hunt Club, Inc., it is your responsibility to familiarize yourself with the rules governing our club. It is also your responsibility to personally obey and enforce the rules. Failure to abide by rules could result in suspension from the Club with no refunds.
Hunt Club Committee
General Rules
1. The Hunting Club Membership authorizes the members wife and all children, under 18 years of age, to all benefits of the club. This will include all children that are in service or college regardless of age. These benefits are to be free of charge.
2. A clubhouse is provided for the members, and each member is responsible for the proper use and condition of the clubhouse after using the facilities. He must tidy up the portion of the clubhouse used and remove all foods from refrigerator and debris which are subject to spoilage before leaving the property.
3. All trash must be removed from the property and disposed of properly.
4. The gate at the entrance to the property should be kept closed and locked at all times.
5. Each member will be issued a House key and Gate key of which he will be held responsible and expected to return said keys should he no longer be a member. Under no circumstances are these keys to be loaned or given to a non-member.
6. Members are requested to check any person on property not known to them for their membership card. Any person not having said membership card or permit can be instructed to leave the property, or if necessary, call the local law enforcement agency.
7. The inviting member of guests is fully responsible to brief his guest on the rules of the Club and see that his guest abides by these rules.
8. In no case will a guest be permitted on the club unless he is accompanied by a member in good standing.
9. No bed linens, blankets, towels, etc... will be furnished by the club.
10. All persons under the age of 16 must by accompanied and properly supervised by his parent or member of the club.
11. The cost of outside living facilities will be $50.00 other than short term or overnight, with a limit of eight (8) facilities to be allowed on the property.
12. Hunt Club dues must be paid in full no later than July 1 of each year before any member will be allowed to use the property.
13. If a member does not pay dues by said deadline, he will be dropped from membership list. If he wishes to rejoin, his name will go to the bottom of the list. This indiviual can not hunt as a guest for the following year.
14. No person will be allowed to come to M.H.C. as a guest no more than two (2) times during the M.H.C. fiscal year.
15. All club members and their guests are restricted to keeping motor vehicles (including motorcycles) on club roads. They are not to cross man made barriers.
16. Absolutely No spotlighting allowed on M.H.C. property.
17. *REMEMBER* - Anything that moves in the forest is a person. Don not shoot until game can be positively identified and in clear view. There shall be no blind, sound, or brush shots.
18. The shall be NO DRINKING OR ILLEGAL DRUGS USED prior to or during any hunt by member or guest regardless of the type of game being hunted. Expulsion from the club will result.
19. It is MANDATORY that all members sign in upon arrival. Members must place pin on map before going afield. When returning, sign out and remove pin from map. Each member must registar guests, fill out land entry permit and liability release form and pay applicable guest fees.
20. Each hunter is required to record in the club registar the type and amount of all game killed.
21. All deer stands must be portable and non-damaging to trees.
22. The removal of any wood products is prohibited; this includes firewood, pineneedles, etc...
23. On organized deer hunts shotguns with buckshot only. No rifles of any caliber may be used during organized hunts.
24. All hunters must wear an exposed garment of orange; garment is to be a hat, jacket, or vest. This is to be worn at all times.
25. On organized deer hunts, the hunter must not leave his assigned stand until the pre-arranged signal whistle is sounded. A penalty for those found more than 50 feet from his stand will be imposed by members present.
26. In consideration of your fellow hunters, it is suggested that when organized deer hunts are in progress no smoking or moving about be the rule.
27. Transportation to the organized deer hunt areas will be provided, and no personal vehicles are to be used unless requested by the Hunt Master.
28. Prior to leaving the clubhouse on organized deer hunts, all hunters will be briefed by the Hunt Master concerning safety and the general conditions governing the hunt.
29. Still hunting on organized hunt days will be left to the discretion of the Hunt Master as to whether or not still hunting will be allowed. The Hunt Master shall also determine the number of hunters and where they will hunt.
30. Any hunter being late to join the organized deer hunt must not attempt to gain entrance to the area being hunted. He may take a suitable stand adjoining the area, showing on the register the area he is in. He is to return to the clubhouse before the next hunt begins.
31. On organized deer hunts the meat will be divided and dispersed per the Butcher Committee recommendations.
32. Any person who shoots at a deer and fails to kill said deer, and being convicted of failure to kill deer, shall lose a sizable portion of his shirt-tail. If the shirt-tail is taken, it shall become property of the club, and shall be displayed with the name attached.
33. There will be no shooting at game other than deer on organized deer hunts. A fine of $5.00 will be imposed on the hunter violating this rule.
34. Absolutely no fox sqirrels may be killed on club property!
35. Hunt club members will be permitted to take all game in season, and in accordance with North Carolina State and Federal Game laws and club rules.
36. There will be no deer hunting with dogs at any time other than Hunt Club Committee Organized Hunts.
37. Club owned dogs will only be handled by club committee authorized handlers.
38. Any member willfully violating any rule and or regulation of this club is subject to disciplinary measures by a majority of the club members present at a called meeting, and penalized according to their discretion.
39. The Mecklenburg Hunt Club, Inc. assumes no responsibility for any injury of death resulting from an accident or accidents to its members or guests.
40. A minimum weight limit for does being killed has been set to 80lb.s. A member killing a doe below this weight will be charged $5.00 per pound up to $50 maximum.
41. No spike bucks are allowed to be killed. Any member killing a spike will be charged $50.00.
42. All children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian and must wear protective headgear while riding ATVs.
